Senior ministries

While most ministries at St. John’s are intergenerational, we love being able to provide fellowship, growth, and Bible study opportunities to the retired community and those who are 55+. Below are a few examples of the activities and ministries our older adults enjoy.

Monday bible class

This robust group meets Mondays at 12:00pm in the community room for a time of fellowship and Bible study. Content varies from rigorous Bible study to watching The Chosen videos together, based on the season. If you have any questions, reach out to Pastor Mike at mike@stjohnsop.com

Monthly Potlucks

Join us monthly on the third Wednesdays of each month at noon in the fellowship hall. Bring a dish to pass and share in delicious, food fellowship and conversation.

trips with pastor mike

Each year Pastor Mike leads groups made up of mostly older adults on trips both domestic and abroad. In the past, destinations have been the Holy Land, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, the Sight and Sounds theater in PA.

Join Pastor Mike for two interesting and exciting bus trips during 2024:

  • Sights and Sounds of Lancaster, PA (August 14-16):  See Sight and Sound Theatre's brand new production of the Biblical epic story of Daniel, enjoy the "Magic and Wonder " magic show, dine at an Amish homestead, ride the Strasburg Railroad and much more.
  • Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine (October 6-11):  Be part of this 6 day, 5 night trip to new England in the Fall.  Highlights include the Coolidge birthplace, Quechee Gorge, Loon Mountain gondola ride, Winnepesaukee Scenic Railroad ride with turkey dinner, Lighthouse Lovers Cruise in Maine and a lobster bake.
